Alamosa County Support
On Monday evening at 10pm we received a request for additional resources required for a search in Alamosa county. They had had an overdue hiker, who had gotten separated from their hiking partner. @avsar.co had already been searching for the missing hiker since 3pm into the late evening hours. We were able to deploy two K9 teams and two flankers for 06:00am Tuesday morning at Zapata Falls trail head. Also responding to assist AVSAR were team members from @ccsarsouth , members from @southforkfirerescue swift water team, @reachairmedical and a @coparkswildlife Drone Pilot. Together we continued the search for the missing hiker, who was found around 11:00am. The hiker had encountered a bear while returning to the trailhead, which forced her into the backcountry, in which she became disoriented. We are thankful for this outcome and that the hiker was able to build a shelter to survive the night. Great job to @avsar.co members! Thanks to @colo_sar for their assistance and all other interagencies that responded. Huge thank you to our K9 teams and flankers for their hard work on this mission.
